She's Still Big, It's The Billboards That Have Gotten Small

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Angelyne is everything we love about Los Angeles. She’s the good and the bad, the cool and the cruel, the alpha and the omega. We’ve waxed lyrical over Angelyne ad nauseam in both editions of our book, and it beats the shit out of us why Angelenos aren’t more appreciative of her. Angelyne is like a great work of public art, and we can’t imagine a Los Angeles without her.

 

A local 7-11 sets the scene in this brilliant paparazzi video, which—in no less than 49 seconds—manages to capture the essence of L.A. more effectively than any book, television show, or feature film ever made. But you can’t get all the nuance in one viewing; you really have to watch it at least fifteen times. We’re embarrassed to admit how many times we’ve watched it.
